Despite the fact that intriguing mashup of kind elements, this early footage from Man over a Ledge paints it to be somewhat of a general Hollywood thriller – which consists of fair share of clich? talk, stale stock characters (the idealistic police, the utterly corrupt businessman, etc.), and a storyline where the twists and turns are. effectively, kind of predictable.
Nick Cassidy (Mike Worthington) was an honest cop. Now he’s in prison for the crime he didn’t commit. Desperate, he seizes the first possibility to escape. Hours later, he is freshly shaven in an expensive suit, standing on a windowpane ledge high above Ny city. As a crowd collects below, police cordon off the spot and agree to Nick’s request to talk to pretty police negotiator Lydia Anderson (At the Banks). But Lydia doesn’t understand that she is part of his grand plan, a plan that could allow them to have both a second likelihood.
Speaking quietly into a lapel microphone, Nick coordinates the high-tech theft of any $30 million diamond-the same diamond he was charged of stealing. It’s the only way the guy can prove his innocence, but he needs Lydia’s help-and he’s running outside of time. When his identity is usually exposed, a SWAT team positions itself on the roof, read to take your pet out. Lydia isn’t sure he’s telling the reality, but if he really was set up for the diamond heist, it had to be an internal job, which means at least on the list of cops on the picture wants Nick dead. With SWAT about to maneuver, cops destroying the evidence that could save him and nowhere to travel but down, Nick’s chances of survival increasingly becoming slimmer by the instant.
Man on a Space was directed by Asger Leth (Ghouls of Cit? Soleil) and also scripted by RED producing duo Erich and Jon Hoeber : in collaboration with Chris Gorak (the director with this winter’s The Darkest Hour or so) and Pablo P oker. Fenjves (Twilight Gentleman, The Devil’s Child).
It also features an incredibly strong cast overall, which includes Worthington and Banks – in addition to supporting players like Jamie Bell (The Adventures of Tintin), Kyra Sedgwick (Your Closer), Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker), Edward Burns (Entourage), and Ed Harris as the previously-referenced villain of this piece. So there’s definitely prospect of Man on a Corner to excel, in the acting office.
While the film seems to be to boast some ingenious components of cinematography (like the “fishbowl perspective, ” in this article’s header impression), there’s not a ton else that comes away from as that creative or memorable – no less than in the first trailer. Besides the plot being a bit too reminiscent of other motion pictures, none of the fixed pieces or character conflicts in Man on the Ledge seem that useful or well-executed. It doesn’t help in which Worthington – who actually delivered quite a competent performance in your recent thriller, The Debt – arrives off as less-than-stellar leading man material in this initial footage.
